Hi again! I hope you are doing well and lets get into today's topic: character development.
As you know from the many times I've said it before, Maia is a super fun, bubbly girl. She is unique and cares about her family and friends a lot. She isn't sure why she's being bullied, but it might be because of her child-like personality as well.
Throughout the opening, I'll be developing Maia's character as a bit childish through the setting and props.
Many people say that your bedroom is a reflection of you, and in this case it very much is. Maia's room is very colorful and shows her personality through the wallpaper, star garland, and stuffed animals on her bed. All of those work together to express her uniqueness and her almost child-like self.
The stuffed animals around her room represent her love for cute, fluffy things. Throughout the room there are character plushies including Donald Duck, Martin Kratt (from Wild Kratts), Bob the minion, and so much more. These show her dedication to her favorite shows and movies, which can be translated into real-life with her dedication to her family and friends. She is shown giving her baked goods to her best friend, which shows how caring and compassionate she is.
Also, I think that by thinking through all of the small details like her phone case, shows her life in many different ways. Audience members might unknowingly connect the dots by thinking "Oh yea, she must've made that phone case because she said that she likes to do crafts." This further develops the character as a crafty person. The phone case that she chose also represents her character as unique. Some might call it tacky, but it is also very child-like.
