Hi friends! 👋👋 Today I want to share the first project I did in media studies! It was challenging but in a fun way because it challenged my partner and I to think outside the box. So, the instructions were to tell a story with only 15 camera shots, and we had to explain why we used each shot to tell the story. This part was difficult because we needed to create our reasoning for each shot and make it align with what the shot is used for.
Here was our process:
1. Figure out a story that wasn't too hard to tell. (This honestly took the most time because we didn't want to make our story boring, but we couldn't make it too complicated especially because we had that limit of 15 shots.)
2. Create our shot list. This is where we had to figure out which type of shot will help tell the story most effectively. It's super helpful because it keeps you organized so that you know exactly what to shoot and from what angle.
3. Put it into a PowerPoint and give our reasoning. I would say that this was the easiest part of the project, because it was basically just gluing our shots together and telling the story.
I also wanna share the parts of this project I did well and what I think I should improve on, just as a reflection so that I know I'm able to articulate what I did wrong. On that note, I would say that the story line itself was the part of this project I did the best in. The story goes like this: there is a group of friends who are school supplies, and live in a school supply world, and this friend group goes on a little excursion to the Florida Everglades for an air-boat ride. I won't spoil the rest, so you can see the project yourself!! The content of the shots is what I think I need to improve on. I feel like the shots my partner and I took don't 100% explain and develop the story we wanted very well. I know this is my first project, so I shouldn't be too harsh, but overall I had a really fun time with this.
Below is the story and let me know if you have any fun name ideas!!
